Dear members of EUROPT,

today's e-mail may draw our attention to one job opportunity
and to three scientific events. Hopefully, one or another of
these announcements could become valuable for your and
your friends. Please find the corresponding information
subsequently.

With best wishes,
yours sincerely,
Gerhard-Wilhelm Weber

Postdoctoral Position at the University of Waterloo, Canada
-----------------------------------------------------------

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the
University of Waterloo, for research with Professors Miguel Anjos
(Management Sciences), Anthony Vannelli (Electrical & Computer
Engineering), and Henry Wolkowicz (Combinatorics &
Optimization). The area of research is the development of novel
optimization methodologies for solving hard combinatorial
problems arising in real-world applications.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Operations Research,
Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preference will be given to candidates with documented expertise
in mathematical programming techniques.

The starting date will be determined by mutual agreement.
The initial contract will be for 6 to 12 months, with a possibility
of extensions up to a maximum of 2 years in total.

Applicants should send a CV and list of referees to Professor
Miguel Anjos ( manjos@uwaterloo.ca ) as a PDF (preferred) or
Word file. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

d) Call for Papers

Workshop on Networks in Computational Biology

Ankara, Turkey, September 10-12, 2006
http://www.iam.metu.edu.tr/Networks_in_Computational_Biology/
**************************************************************

PURPOSE
*************
Workshop on Networks in Computational Biology 2006 aims
at giving an overview and presenting most recent and important
interdisciplinary contributions by applied mathematics to the
wealth of biological networks focusing on theory, methodology,
and applications. Based on the variety of scientific
backgrounds
and experience combined for this special scientific event, the
theory of optimization, both continuous and discrete, dynamical
systems, data mining procedures, and the theory relating to
inverse problems will be addressed. The main challenge and
principal goal of the workshop is to contribute to the mathematical
foundations of computational biology. We expect to learn from
each other and with our students, and to get inspired to pursuing
common future research projects in this field and its applications,
thus serving our people and fostering a better and fruitful
understanding between our nations.
